Main Fork of the Salmon River
July 31 - August 6, 2011
Length: 80 Miles
Time on Water: 4 Hours per day for 7 days
Flow: Just below 2 on the gauge, which is under 10,000 cfs.
Class 2-3+: Really fun water with a handful of bigger rapids requiring some moves.
Highlight:
For Next Time: Try to camp at Magpie Creek on river left.
Flora & Fauna: Tons of Bighorn Sheep, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Rattlesnakes, One River Otter, Poison Ivy Everywhere, Cutthroat Trout.
Boat Traffic: Tons of people on the river (both commercial and private), more than I have ever seen before. Due to the new rapid, there was much less jet boat traffic during the first half of the trip.
Campsites: Alder Creek, Blackadar, Reed Creek, Allison Ranch, Warren Creek, Maxwell Bar
